The beach of Viareggio and Versilia is reputed one of the widest and classiest in Europe! Made of the finest sand, the beach is gradual for a long distance with excellent swimming conditions in salty, warm water.  The gentle sloping of the beach front and the presence of numerous lifeguard during the season (Late May to Late September) make swimming easy and safe even for beginners. Patini or boats can be rented for those who prefer to swim in deeper waters, within 300 meters from the shore. Bathouses offer excellent services, with lots of amenities and keep the sand immaculately clean; umbrellas, chairs and cabins can be rented daily or seasonally.
